Ways to present information
In this unit we learnt how to use the Jit5 paint program to create pictures and we also learnt to save these pictures to use in Jit5 write. We added sentences to our pictures using the write program. After this, we learnt how to use Jit5 annimate to create a short annimation of a plant growing.
Year 2 Autumn Term 2 2021-2022
Collecting, organising and presenting data
In this unit we learnt how to use the J2Vote program. We set up different polls together and then we each voted for our favourites. We enjoyed voting for different crisp types and also our favourite school dinners. After, we looked at the graphs to check the results. As a class we explored branching data bases and answered different questions to find out which animal or body part had been chosen.
Year 2 Spring Term 1 2021-2022
Art of Animation
In this unit we have continued to develop our understanding of animation using the Jit5 animate program. We have created world map pictures, making each continent a different colour. Then, we have added labels for each of the continents using the animation tool bar.
We then moved on to creating a sea background picture using paint and then creating fish/sea creature pictures that we could use as stamps. Using these we have created an under the sea animation, using the onion skinning effect, about sea pollution.
Year 2 Spring Term 2 2021-2022
Art of Animation (continued) and Digital Literacy
We continued our unit from before half term and completed our under the sea animations. We then completed some lessons about keeping safe online. We looked at the importance of a strong password and had a go at creating some. We also talked about keeping information private and what it was sensible to share online. We had a go at giving sensible answers to questions we may get asked, without sharing too much sensitive information about ourselves.
Year 2 Summer Term 1 2021-2022
Sequencing Simple Algorithms and Programs
This half term we started our new unit by working with a partner, one person being the computer and one the programmer. The computer had to follow the programmer's instructions to create a given picture. We then moved on to using the JIT turtle program, where we practised writing a program to make the butterfly sprite move around the different flowers.
