Welcome to Year 1

Below you will find some useful information about Year 1.

 

Here are the staff who work in your classroom:

 

Class Teacher: Miss Greaves and Ms Trapani

 

Teaching Assistant: Miss Witcomb and Miss Baird 

 

 

Our Daily Routines

 

Your start time is 8:45am Via Year 1 door, through the KS1 playground. Doors will open at 8:40am daily.

 

Your finish time is 3:15m Via Year 1, so please wait near the Year 1 gates. Once your child has been collected please keep the gate clear so children can be safely dismissed. 

Learning Over the Year

Key PE Information

 

Your PE day will be on a Monday. Please come to school in your uniform. You will be getting changed into your PE kit in school. 

 

Your kit should consist of a house coloured t-shirt, black shorts or joggers and pumps or trainers. You can also wear a black hoodie or sweater to keep you warm outdoors.

 

Key Forest School Information

 

Your Forest School day is now on a Friday.  

 

These sessions are led by Ms Trapani who is a trained forest school practitioner.

You will be getting changed into your forest school kit in school. 

 

Forest School kit

Wellies • Clothes you don’t mind your child getting dirty/ damaged • Hat, scarf and gloves (autumn/winter) • Sun hat, Sun cream (Spring Summer) • Long sleeved top and long trousers (all seasons) • Waterproof coat

 

We also have some waterproof suits in size 5-6 years, which the children can wear during the sessions. 

 

Please make sure names are on clothing so we can identify who it belongs to.

Homework Expectations 

 

Reading:

 

Every Friday your child will be given 2 new RWI books to read as often as possible, building on fluency and speed with each read. Please write sign/comment in your child’s reading diary when they have read their book.

 

Books need to be returned the following Wednesday so a new book can be given out. It is important reading books are returned otherwise, there is a charge to pay for a replacement book.

 

Maths:

 

CGP homework books will be sent out on a Friday. The pages to complete will be set by the teacher. You will work through two pages per week. 

 

Please return the books on a Wednesday so they can be checked. Pupils may require support with this homework, particularly until they get used to using the books.
