EYFS - Reception
Welcome to Reception with Miss Cowie and Mrs Wildman
Hello, my name is Miss Cowie and I have been the Reception teacher at Hanbury’s Farm for 3 years. I graduated University in 2019 with a First-Class Honours Degree in Primary Education and have loved every bit of teaching since. Throughout my career I have taught in a range of year groups including Reception, Nursery and Year 1.
Our Reception Classroom has been specially designed to offer challenging open ended activities and independent learning opportunites. It is a calm yet challenging environment with open areas to play, explore and investigate.
We have access to sand, water and sensory play under our all weather conopy along with cosy reading area, creative zone and role play area inside. We value the use of IT and have iPads, Laptops and Netbooks that are used regularly with the children to support and enhance learning.
Reception have free flow use of the outdoor learning area where they can develop gross motor skills using with trikes and scooters and balancing equipment. We enjoy exploring with natural materials, den building and mud kitchens and challenging ourselves on the adventure play area.
We also have an Forest School on site and sessions for Reception will run thought out the year with our trained Forest School leaders. Extended hours are available via out Tractor Club Wrap Around catering for children between 7:30 am and 5:30 pm
We use Read, Write Inc. and Power Maths schemes to compliment the practical aspects of the EYFS curriculum. For homework, children have login details for Spelling Shed and Numbots. Our learning and achievements are documented using Tapestry - parents also have a log in so that learning can be shared.
