To start this unit, children completed a comparative test to explore which material would generate the largest electrostatic force. We then moved on to draw scientific drawings, showing each symbol used in a circuit and labelled them accurately. Children were then asked to build a series and parallel circuit to compare the difference between the two types of circuit. During the next lesson, we completed an experiment to test whether different materials were conductors or insulators. Applying their knowledge of electricity so far, children were asked to design and make their own traffic lights circuit. Finally, we created circuits to explore the roles of the resistor and variable resistor.
