Primary
Key Stage 1 – infants – age range 5 to 7 years
When pupils move in to this stage, skills and knowledge tend to become a little more formalised with learning moving to assimilate the New Primary Strategies. Activities are still exciting and fun, but skills are recognised and assessed against a range of attainment levels. At the end of Y2 all pupils are assessed against the national criteria through statutory assessment tests. Pupils are expected to achieve a national expectation of a Level 2.
Key Stage 2 – Juniors – age range 7 to 11 years
The pace of learning and pupil expectation is gradually increased throughout this key stage, although we firmly believe that true learning is through enjoyable hands on experiences. Physical activities match pupil’s growth and development with sporting opportunities in all sports, including swimming at the local leisure centre. All pupils have the opportunity to attend the Outdoor Education Centre for a week. At the end of Key Stage 2 all pupils are assessed against the national criteria through statutory assessment tests ( S.A.T.s). Pupils are expected to achieve a national expectation of a level 4.
